Alfonso “LD” Nazario, Jr 74, of Cleveland, Ohio went home to be with the Lord on October 13, 2024. He was born on December 28, 1949 in Bayamon, Puerto Rico to Juanita and Alfonso Nazario, Sr. He was welcomed home in heaven by his parents, a brother Joseph “Tony” Nazario, his daughter Shannon Dae Nazario and a great-niece Rue Hendrix Vega. Carrying on his legacy are his children Alfonso Nazario, III, Jamonah (Troy) Shade, Theresa “TC” Snodgrass. Some of his favorite people called him Abuelo (Grandpa): Sonia (Brad) Sutkin, Cheyenne (Adrian) Schroeder, Madeline (Bret) Rumer, Grant Schroeder, Joseph “Tony” Nazario, Alfonso Nazario, IV, Jordan Snodgrass, Marissa Nazario, Zoey Snodgrass, Payton Shade, Parker Shade. He had the coolest title as Bisabuelo (Great-Grandpa) to Valery Rumer, Lincoln Rumer, Oakland Schroeder, Vanna Rumer, and Lynelle “Little LD” Sutkin. Dear brother to Rosa Nazario and Carmen (Michael) DeHaan. He had a close relationship and was the fun uncle to Jeze (Shayna) Santiago, Jason (Holly) Nazario, Alberto (Sarah) Crespo, Eneida (Doug) Dentler, Ismael Vega, Juan (Terri) Vega, and Mathew (Felicia) Everett. He was also very close with his aunts, uncles, his many cousins and great-nieces and nephews. He left a lasting impression on everyone he met and being a friend is not something he took lightly. He was a loyal friend to many.
LD’s love for all things cars and motorcycles began at an early age (14) when he worked in an auto parts store. He learned all the tricks of the auto parts business. He eventually went on to enroll in truck driving school and learned to drive diesel semi-trucks. He worked hauling steel coils for GM and dyed yarn for Phoenix Dye Works. His favorite job was hauling produce for The Northern Ohio Food Terminal. He hauled a refrigerated trailer all over Ohio, Michigan and Pennsylvania for a few years then hauled produce over the road form Florida, California and everywhere produce was grown. He saw many parts of the country that were beautiful and he had a great time driving semis known as “The Cleveland Outlaw” over the CB Radio.
His love of the open road was not only limited to driving a semi. He was a Harley Davidson man through and through. He could be found working on his Harley in his garage when he wasn’t out riding with his gang of Harley buddies. He spent many years and many miles in the saddle of the Harley’s he owned. His most loved was his 1993 Willy G Special Edition Low Rider. In his words, “If you don’t ride a Harley Davidson, you shouldn’t be riding.” He took many motorcycle trips to Sturgis, but one his favorite trips was riding with his buddies out to Sturgis for their 50th Anniversary Rally and partying with The Burnt River Band, Jonny Lang’s Texas Blues Band, Cheech and Chong, Nancy Sinatra, and Jethro Tull. Then riding out to Mt Rushmore with Jonny Lang and Jethro Tull. Anything to do with motors, traveling and riding his Harleys always made him happy and free. He lived life wild, free and on his terms.
Later in life he renewed his relationship with God and that brought him new perspectives on how to live a life that pleased our Lord and served His purpose. He was a member of Juan XXIII Movement of Cleveland where he went on many mission retreats spreading the love of God to people throughout the US and Honduras. He made some lifelong friendships through this work. He was a friend of Bill & Bob’s for 27 years. He was a great friend to many in the program and would help anyone he could. His sobriety became a core value to him and who he was up to the very end.
