Annie L. Otis, age 91, passed away on November 13, 2023, leaving behind a legacy of love, compassion, and unwavering dedication to her family. Born on January 10, 1932, in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, to the late Robert L. Johnson and Rosalee Brooks-Johnson, Annie was the second of 12 children and the last surviving child of her parents.
Devoted mother to James Frank Bass Jr. (Deceased), Donald Jean Bass, Ronald Dean Bass (Deceased), and Sabrina Lynn Otis-Canty, Annie's nurturing spirit extended beyond her immediate family. She was the cherished grandmother of Rhonda Watts, Andre Bass (Deceased), Ronnie D. Bass, Donnie K. Bass, Jermaine Linson, Dava A. Rico Bass, Pauletta Moss, Sabrina Porter, Julian Bass (Deceased), Isaun Bass, Frankie Gibson, Heather Lessman, Caprice Fourst, Brittany Oliverio, Arlen Marcus, Chelsea Gibson, Justin Otis, Desiree Bass, Jordan Otis, Kristy Bass, Joshua Otis, Melanie Bass Thompson, Joseph Otis, Samaria Otis, Savannah Otis, and Ava Bass.
Annie's life was marked by a deep appreciation for simple joys. She found solace and joy in gardening, solving crossword puzzles, playing bingo, and taking long walks. Her work as a foster care mom for over 30 years, a home health aide for 9 years, and a domestic worker for 13 years reflected her commitment to caring for others.
A woman of faith, Annie loved attending church and derived great pleasure from cooking from memory and scratch. Her culinary creations were a testament to her love for her family and the joy she found in nurturing them.
