Anthony F. Broccone was born October 6, 1936. Tony passed away on July 15, 2021, following a lengthy illness.
Tony is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 41 years, Wendy (nee Talbott), sons Anthony (Kimberly) and Frank (Tammy), sister Annette Barnes, grandchildren Angela, Tara, Bricen, Lillianna, and Kiony, great-grandchildren, as well as a multitude of nieces and nephews, and friends.
Tony worked at The Cleveland Press for more than 17 years. When the newspaper ceased business operations, Tony started work at The Plain Dealer where he worked for over 19 years. Upon retiring from The Plain Dealer, Tony began working for Penske Trucking and worked there part-time for many years before retiring again in December 2020.
Tony loved spending time in Florida, enjoying the beaches and the gulf water, He spent winters there for the last many years. He spent his days at the pool and many evenings on the beaches watching the sun set. Tony enjoyed Disney in Florida so much that he visited the Magic Kingdom, Epcot, and Universal more than 26 times.
For many years, Tony kept a boat in Marblehead and enjoyed spending days fishing with friends for walleye and lake perch. He never came home empty-handed, even if it meant he had to purchase fresh fruit and vegetables!
An avid sports fan, Tony would attend or watch on television, nearly any sporting event, but he particularly loved his Browns and Indians, and professional boxing.
Wendy would like to acknowledge and thank the many doctors, nurses, aides, respiratory therapists, and dialysis nurses and technicians who worked so hard to provide Tony with quality and compassionate care during his final days on this earth. The support of these dedicated and caring people helped make his last days as pleasant and comfortable as possible Special thanks to the nurses and aides at Grace Hospital.
Funeral Mass Wednesday July 21,2021 at 10:00am at Church of the Assumption 9183 Broadview Rd., Broadview Hts., Ohio 44147 where memorial visitation will be held prior to mass from 9:00am-10:00am.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The Salvation Army or N.P.R.
