Billy Akers, Sr.

Billy Akers, Sr. age 78, passed away on December 6, 2021 at his home.  He was born on July 18, 1943 in Huntington, West Virginia to Jasper Jack Akers Sr., and Ruth Morm Murphy Akers.  He grew up in Culloden, West Virginia.

Billy Joe served in the United States Army in Vietnam.  He used his mechanical abilities when he moved to Ohio in 1966, where he worked as a diesel mechanic.  He was retired from Traftech.

Billy was survived by his children, Elizabeth Childers, Lisa (Paul) Schoonover, Billy J. (Kim) Akers Jr.  He was a father in 3 blended families creating group of 10 additional brothers & sisters; Terry Mann, William Jerry Burdette, Patty Flynn, John Flynn, Rose Flynn, Anthony Flynn, Vicki Flynn, Cathleen Johnson, Thomas Jones & David Jones.  27 grandchildren and a growing list of great- grandchildren; and siblings, Virginia Ruth Hager and Eunice Kay Gibson.

He was preceded in death by his siblings, Jasper Jack Akers Jr. Patricia Connalee Fouts, and Irene Faye Thomas.

Billy enjoyed fishing, hunting and collecting.  He especially enjoyed spending time with his family.  He will be dearly missed.
