Carolyn Bermudez

Carolyn “Sue” Bermudez (nee Taylor) passed away peacefully on November 18, 2022, at the age of 81 with her family by her side after a long hard battle with cancer.

She leaves behind six of her seven children Margarita (“Kathy”) (Eugene) Jurco, Luz Elena, Evaristo (“JR”) Jr., Charles, Raquel (John) Michalosky, Miguel, 18 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild. She is preceded by her husband Evaristo Santiago, her daughter Anna, one grandson and two great-grandsons. 

She was born on August 6, 1941 in Huntington West Virginia to Montie (nee Watkins) and Garland (“Jiggs”) Taylor. She is predeceased by her siblings Ramona, Connie, Betty, Garland (“Johnny”), James Ronnie and is survived by her siblings William (“Bill”) and Sharon.

Sue moved to Cleveland Ohio with her family in 1943. She married the love of her life in 1957 and they were married for 64 years until he was called home. She spent her life caring for her family and making her house a home.

Those of us that knew her would all agree that she was fiercely independent and a fighter. This fighter instinct served her well in her many years battling cancer where she beat all the odds and fought to be on this earth with her family and friends more years than any would have ever dreamed. Cancer would finally take its toll on her body, but it could never take her spirit.

Family and friends are welcome on Monday, November 21, 2022, from 5:30 to 8:00 p.m. at Slone & Co. Funeral Directors 13115 Lorain Ave. Cleveland, OH 44111. Graveside services will be held Tuesday, November 22, 2022, at 11 a.m. at West Park Cemetery 3942 Ridge Rd. Cleveland, OH 44144. (Please meet at gates by 10:45 a.m.)
