Debra Lynn Giles

Debra Lynn Giles, affectionately known as 'Yaya' by her grandchildren, passed away peacefully on December 29, 2023, surrounded by her family, at the age of 65. She was born on July 15, 1958, in Cleveland, Ohio, to Donald and Dolores Mendel. Debra was the beloved wife of Harold Giles, devoted mother of Michael Giles (Rebekah), and a cherished grandmother to Eliana and Lily Giles.

Debra's love extended beyond her immediate family, as she embraced Rachel and Michelle McDevitt as if they were her own daughters, as well as Rachel's daughter Nat Jackson, who she thought of as her own granddaughter . She was a dear sister to Diane Mazzeo and the late David Mendel. Debra also held a special place in the hearts of her nieces and nephews, including Justin Scheeff (Brittany), Heather Scheeff, and many others who regarded her as a treasured great aunt.

Known for her warm and caring nature, Debra found joy in baking, cultivating beautiful gardens, and pursuing her various collections. Her passion for life was only surpassed by her love for Jesus, which was evident in her daily actions and interactions with those around her.

Family and friends are welcome on Thursday, January 4, 2024, from 4 to 7 p.m., at Slone & Co. Life Celebration Center 3556 W. 130th St. Cleveland, OH 44111. Visitation will be held on Friday, January 5, 2023, from 10 a.m. until time of Services at 11 a.m., at Columbia Road Baptist Church 4116 Columbia Rd. North Olmsted, OH 44070. Interment Coe Ridge Cemetery.
