Efren “Freddy” Rosa of Cleveland Ohio passed away after a brief illness on July 13, 2019 surrounded by family. He was 68 years old.
Freddy was born in San Lorenzo, Puerto Rico on November 21, 1950 to Francisco and Fausta Rosa. In 1951, he was gifted a little brother, Francisco “Cico” Rosa. At the age of 7, Freddy and his family moved to Cleveland, OH. After attending East High School he was drafted into the United States Army. He served 2 years and was honorably discharged in 1972. A year later he met his future wife Carmen. Little did they know that their paths had crossed earlier in life as he had once worked when he was a young boy, for milk delivery and Carmen’s home was one of his stops. In 1976, Freddy and Carmen were married at Our Lady of Lourdes Church. They were blessed with their first son, Efren Rosa, II in 1982, followed by Gabriel in 1989, Isaiah in 1993, Israel in 1995 and Francisco in 1997. A house full of boys! Freddy retired from the Ford Motor Company, where he was a dedicated employee for 33 years. Between a full schedule of work, school, games, sports and cookouts one could imagine what a whirlwind life was. In 2005, Freddy was surprised with some amazing news…he was going to be a grandfather! He welcomed his ‘baby girl’ a beautiful granddaughter, Xiomari Rosa.
Freddy enjoyed spending time with his family, listening to oldies and watching Westerns. He loved to have a good time and his one of a kind smile was contagious. One of Freddy’s famous sayings to his children: “Knock you to the moon” will also be remembered. He was a kind, compassionate, understanding gentleman who had a heart of gold. Freddy loved his family and friends unconditionally as they did him. A proud husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend, he will be missed by many and will live forever on in our hearts and memories.
Freddy was a beloved husband to Carmen Rosa. Loving father to Efren Rosa, II, Gabriel C. Rosa, Isaiah M. Rosa, Israel J. Rosa and Francisco E. A. Rosa. Dearest grandfather to Xiomari Rosa. Son of the late Francisco and Fausta Rosa. Brother of Francisco Rosa. Uncle of Andre Rosa, Danny Rosa, Danielle, Annalisse, Carlito, Lissette, Lisa, David, Little Kenny, Jesus (deceased), Jennifer, Kenneth, Elias, Bella, Lily, Xavier and Dante.
