Gary Alan Emery, a cherished member of the Cleveland community and a devoted family man, passed away peacefully at his residence in Cleveland, Ohio, on October 25, 2024. He was born on December 19, 1956, in Lakewood, Ohio, to parents Tibor and Irene (nee Lasenyik) Emery.
A proud veteran of the United States Air Force, Gary served his country with distinction before embarking on a dedicated career with the Cleveland Police Department, where he retired after many years of service. His commitment to public safety and the well-being of his community was evident in every interaction he had, and he was a respected figure among his peers and those he served.
Gary enjoyed a variety of hobbies and interests throughout his life. He had a passion for traveling that allowed him to explore new places, and he had a deep appreciation for cars and motorcycles. These hobbies provided him with joy and fulfillment, and they were often shared with family and friends.
Gary leaves behind his beloved wife of 49 years, Marie (nee Wells) Emery, who stood by his side through all of life's adventures. He is also survived by his loving son Michael Emery, his cherished grandchildren, Randy McCarthy and Alyssa Mae (Tyler) Nock; great-grandchildren Caleb and MiraBella McCarthy, whose lives he filled with love and laughter, and mother Irene (nee Lasenyik) Kopas. Additionally his is survived by many nieces and nephews, all of whom will deeply miss him.
He is preceded in death by his daughter Stephanie Emery, father Tibor Emery, and sister Bonnie Emery.
Family and friends are invited to gather on Tuesday, October 29, 2024, at Pearlbrook Church of God 4644 Pearl Rd, Cleveland, OH 44109, where Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM, followed by a funeral service at 11:00 AM. Interment with military honors will follow at West Park Cemetery.
