Gavin Novar Cadogan

Gavin Novar Cadogan (Lippy, Shabba), departed this life on Wednesday, August 12, 2020.

Gavin was born on December 10, 1972, in Kingston, Jamaica.

The second child of five, he emigrated to the United States when he was 22 years old. Gavin graduated from St. Georges College in Kingston, Jamaica. Gavin went on to receive his degree from ITT Technical Institute while working as an installer with Cablevision. He spent 26 dedicated years as the company changed managements finally, saying goodbye as a Plant Maintenance Technician with Spectrum (Charter Communications) on August 12, 2020.

Gavin is survived by his mother Yvonne Parboosingh; father Errol Cadogan; daughters Brittney and Imani; dedicated and loving friend Sonia; stepchildren Joseph; Tangela; Brittany; Deontez; Oneisha and Jawuan. Brothers Garnette and Germaine; sisters Deandra and Shondrea; grandchildren, and many others to mourn his passing.

On August 12, 2020 you slipped away,

All we felt was pain and sorrow on that day.

Looking on the faces full of gloom, 

I know you wanted us to leave the room.

Since you left we have all felt the same,

Praying it is a dream when we call your name.

But, all we can do is try to remember,

How knowing you brought us so much pleasure.

We know your earthly journey ended in your sleep,

If wishes came true we would have no need to weep.

Your work here on earth is done,

The time has come for you to move on.

Gavin, your jokes broke a lot of barriers down, 

It proved a smile is worth more than a frown.

Because your charisma and humor was so contagious, 

Sometimes we became a bit outrageous.

I may not speak for everyone, 

But for most of us I know I can.

Being around you was a pleasure,

To forget you as a SON, FATHER, BROTHER, UNCLE, FRIEND, we will never.

Gavin, this poem to you is dedicated, 

Remembering all the times we waited.

On your visit that was overdue,

Because your job of 26 years took so much out of you.

If you think you have not done much,

Look down on those whose lives you touched.

Thinking of us all gloomy faced, 

With smiling countenances now replaced.

Knowing that you are in a better place.
