Gundy Melendez, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and aunt, passed away peacefully, leaving behind a legacy of love and dedication to her family. She was born on June 1, 1952, in La Esperanza, El Salvador, to Carlos Garcia and Asunción Lopez.

On July 28, 1973, Gundy married the love of her life, Luis Felipe Melendez, in El Salvador. Together, they built a beautiful life, beginning with the birth of their first daughter, Sandra Dinora Melendez, when Gundy was 28 years old. At 29, she and her husband embarked on a new journey, migrating to the United States with their 10-month-old daughter and three nephews in search of greater opportunities. She worked tirelessly for over 30 years, providing for her family and ensuring a bright future for her children.

At the age of 30, Gundy welcomed her second daughter, Yesenia Melendez Clarke, completing their family. She was a devoted mother who dedicated her life to raising her daughters with love and strength. In her retirement, she found her greatest joy in caring for her three cherished grandchildren: Carter Luis Clarke, Lucas Eli Rios, and Camila Grace Clarke. Gundy adored spending time with her family and treasured the moments she spent traveling with them.

She leaves behind her loving husband, Luis Felipe Melendez; her daughters, Sandra Melendez (Edgar Rios, son-in-law)) and Yesenia Melendez Clarke (Andre Clarke, son-in-law); and her beloved grandchildren, Carter, Lucas, and Camila.

Gundy’s warmth, resilience, and unwavering love will be deeply missed by all who knew her. She leaves behind a lasting legacy of kindness, strength, and devotion to family.

Family and friends are welcome on Friday, February 7, 2025, from 4 to 8 p.m., at Slone & Co. Funeral Directors 13115 Lorain Ave. Cleveland, OH 44111. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, February 8, 2025, at 10 a.m., at Iglesia Adventista Ebenezer Spanish Seventh-day Adventist Church 7322 Elton Ave, Cleveland, OH 44102 (please meet at church). Interment Riverside Cemetery.

El 28 de julio de 1973, Gundy se casó con el amor de su vida, Luis Felipe Meléndez, en El Salvador. Juntos construyeron una hermosa vida, que comenzó con el nacimiento de su primera hija, Sandra Meléndez, cuando Gundy tenía 28 años. A los 29, ella y su esposo emprendieron un nuevo camino, emigrando a los Estados Unidos con su hija de 10 meses y tres sobrinos en busca de mejores oportunidades. Le sobreviven su amado esposo, Luis Felipe Meléndez; sus hijas, Sandra Meléndez (Edgar Rios, yerno) y Yesenia Meléndez Clarke (Andre Clarke, yerno); y sus queridos nietos, Carter, Lucas y Camila.
