He is survived by his loving companion Dorothy Slunski, children Cathie (John) Schafer, James P II (Eleni) and Meggan (Gary) Masucci, granddaughters Jenna and Aubrey Schafer, siblings Mike, Dan and Maureen, godfather and uncle of many. He was preceded in death by his parents William and Jean, siblings Bill, Neal, Brian, Cathie, and Patsy, son Patrick, and wives Carol and Lynn Marie.
He was a proud native Clevelander who graduated from West Tech High School. A lifelong entrepreneur and salesman, he was happiest behind the counter at Honey Girl Donuts, a business he established in 1981, engaging customers daily in social intercourse. After years of caring for his family and retiring, he took up ballroom dancing and became a Master Gardener. He loved traveling, cooking, entertaining, the performing arts, and good conversation. His hobbies included reading, fishing, poker, cake decorating, curing & smoking meat (and cigarettes.) He rooted for the Browns and the Tribe, for whom he was a proud attendee at the last nickel beer night. He was a fighter and survivor, beating death many times with his love of life and a will to live. Are we having fun yet?...yes, we did!
