James A. Toman, age 75, passed away on October 2, 2016. He was the son of James J. and Lillian W. (nee Machka) (both deceased) and the loving brother of Marjorie Hargus (James) (both deceased). Better known as JT to his colleagues and to the thousands of students he taught in the Greater Cleveland area, Toman was also the co-founder, with Daniel Cook, of Cleveland Landmarks Press, and author or co-author of 18 books on topics of Cleveland history. Viewing will take place at St. James Anglican Catholic Church, (East 55th Street and Whittier Avenue) at 10 am on Saturday, Oct. 8, followed by a funeral Mass at 10:30 am. Burial will take place at Calvary Cemetery immediately following the Mass. A reception for family and friends will take place after the interment at the St. James parish hall.
