Joanne Therese Leisinger was born on January 29, 1965. She was the seventh child of eight children born to Tom and Claire Leisinger. She attended Lakewood City Schools through the eighth grade and then attended the now closed, St. Augustine Academy in Lakewood, for her high school years. She was an excellent student and made many close and life long friends while in high school. Joanne went on to get a B.A. in Statistics from Cleveland State University.
As a young child, Joanne enjoyed the frequent family camping trips and could be relied upon to immediately check the facilities of the campground while everyone else got to unpack and set up camp! She did not like spiders, so she would report back the conditions of the bathrooms to alert the rest of the family. Joanne was a stickler for details and a memory that captured the smallest things, much to the chagrin of her siblings. At times, her attention to details and telling the truth would create an uncomfortable situation with a brother or sister with Mom and Dad as she “told it like it was”!
A very private person, Joanne would always show interest and concern for others. Dependable, honest, trustworthy and a very dry sense of humor endeared her to family, friends and co-workers. She worked at the United States Postal Service for 21 years in various roles and locations after an eight year stint at New York Life. Along the way, she picked up a part time job at The Olive Garden where many friendships were made. Almost every Thanksgiving and Christmas time would find her volunteering at the St. Augustine’s Hunger Center. Joanne shared her life with longtime companion,Terry, and was cherished by his family as well.
Joanne is already greatly missed and her passing leaves a void in the hearts of all who knew and loved her. Our fondest memories of her shall be cherished and recalled often to help soften the pain of her loss. Left behind to remember her are her family; Dad, Jeff, (Terry), Linda, (Rob), Karen, (Al), Mark, (Katherine), Donna, Maureen, David, (Heidi); thirteen nieces and nephews; Kevin,(Janeen) Jonathan,(Natalie) Ryan, Zak, (Johnna) Jason, (Heather) Ben, Caitlin, Thaila, (Don) Maurice, (Molly) Trevor, (Amber) Malik, Canyon and Sayre. Great-nieces and nephews; Clare, Mallory, Owen, Frances, Sebastian, Teaghan, Trevor Jr. and Owen. Aunts, Uncles, cousins, dear friends and co-workers, Terry and his family, all join us to mourn her passing and celebrate her life.
