Leonard Earl Brooks, Jr., age 76, of Ripley, Ohio, passed away peacefully on January 6, 2025. Born on November 25, 1948, to the late Leonard Earl Brooks, Sr., and Nellie Mae Garrison Brooks, Leonard lived a life marked by love, service, and dedication.
A proud United States Army veteran, Leonard later built a distinguished 21-year career with JB Hunt, earning the prestigious Million Mile Driver Award. His passions included watching western and mystery films, sharing his love of music as a DJ, and spending treasured time with his beloved family.
Leonard is survived by his devoted wife, Ernestine Brooks; his loving children, Netanya Brooks and Leonard Brooks III; and a host of cherished grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was a dear brother to Aola Brooks, Melissa Brooks, Mildred Brooks, Willa Kidd, and Otis Brooks, and was preceded in death by his siblings Nancy Williams, Troy Brooks, and Betty Brooks. Leonard will be lovingly remembered by many nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.
Family and friends are welcome on Friday, January 17, 2025, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Slone & Co. Funeral Directors, 13115 Lorain Ave., Cleveland, OH 44111. A Military Honors Service will take place at 6:30 p.m. Interment Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery in Seville, Ohio.
