Notra Mae Long, age 88, passed away on December 19, 2024. She was born on October 18, 1936, in Tuskegee, Alabama, to her loving parents, the late Iris Chisholm and Marie Brown.
Notra was the beloved wife of Clarence Long and the devoted mother of Bettye J. Rhinehart (Willie), John L. Smith (Tina), Sylvia A. McIntosh (Melvin - both deceased), Harold Smith (Norma), Teresa A. Townes, Denise S. Lewis, and Catherine L. Thomas (David Sr.). She was a cherished grandmother of 17, great-grandmother of 19, and great-great-grandmother of 5. Notra leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories through her family and friends, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Preceded in death by her dear siblings, Theodis Brown, William Brown, Willie R. Brown Sr., Regina Varner, James Brown Sr., Margaret Davis, Patricia Franklin, Lafayette Brown, and Marvin A. Brown.
Notra was known for her warm heart and love of cooking, with specialties like fried chicken, fried corn, sweet potato pies, banana pudding, caramel cake, and chicken and dressing. She had a special gift for caring for others and found joy in fishing and creating lasting memories with her loved ones.
She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
Family and friends are welcome on Thursday, December 26, 2024, from 5 to 7 p.m., at Slone & Co. Life Celebration Center 3556 W. 130th St. Cleveland, OH 44111, where additional visitation will be held on Friday, December 27, 2024, from 11 a.m. until time of Homegoing Service at 12 p.m. Interment West Park Cemetery.
