Rita Marie Hannum

HANNUM, Rita Marie (nee Varga) Age 88

Our beloved mother, grandmother and great grandmother passed away suddenly on February 20^th surrounded in love by her children and grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Jack, by her parents  Michael and Mary Varga, and by siblings, John Varga and Mildred Mikolajczyk (Marvin).  

She was the devoted mother of Michael, Marie Rave, Jean Fitch, Kevin, Lisa Chait (Ted), Ralph (Erin) and Sharon Andrus (John). Beloved Sister-in-law of Jean Varga.   Dearly loved grandmother of 14 and great grandmother (Gigi) of three with two more blessings on the way.

Rita’s commitment to her family and faith was an inspiration to all that knew her.  She was not only a friend to many, but a tireless and loving care giver. The matriarch of our family and a rock for all of us to lean on, Rita’s heart beat strong until her last breath.  She will be missed more than words can say.

She was an active and unwavering member of the Catholic Church, practicing at St. Vincent de Paul for over 50 years. Rita was the former Secretary of the St. Vincent de Paul Altar and Rosary Society. 

Friends may call on Friday, February 24^th from 4:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. at Slone & Co. Funeral Directors 13115 Lorain Road, Cleveland.  Mass of Christian burial at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 25^th at St. Vincent de Paul Church, 13400 Lorain Avenue, Cleveland.  Interment Holy Cross Cemetery.
