Scarlett Dawn Calvert, affectionately known as "Che Che", age 75, passed away on March 18, 2025. She was born on July 23, 1949, in Chicago, Illinois, to her loving parents, the late Donald Robert and Lorraine Helen Frey.
Scarlett was the beloved wife of Eugene "Big Gene" Lee Calvert, Sr., and the devoted mother of Eugene "Little Gene" Calvert, Jr. (Gina). She was a cherished grandmother to Keith Michael Calvert and Eugene "Trey" Lee Calvert III and a proud great-grandmother to Logan Frae Calvert and Ava Delany Calvert.
She was the dear sister of Stephanie "GaGa/Stevie" Rimar, Robin "Bobby" Rimar, Sheldon "Cowboy" Frey, Jackie Jotsin, Donna Gibson, Dennis "Diddy" Frey, and Sharon Porter. Scarlett was also a treasured aunt to many nieces and nephews who adored her.
Scarlett had a deep love for life’s simple joys. She found happiness in playing Yahtzee, painting, writing poetry, gardening, and collecting gems. A true animal lover, she dedicated herself to raising and breeding animals and was a nurturing presence to all who knew her. She was a mother to everyone, offering kindness and wisdom without hesitation. Though she was small in stature, she was fierce in spirit—earning the nickname "Little Bit."
Her love for creativity and storytelling led her to publish two books of poetry, and she had an undeniable fondness for gnomes, which brought her endless delight.
Scarlett will be remembered for her warmth, strength, and unwavering love for her family, friends, and animals. She leaves behind a legacy of resilience, creativity, and an open heart that touched so many.
