A long time ago, in a state far, far away was born Sherri Jones. She was born in Peoria, IL on March 14, 1964. She lived a Wonderful Life until her passing on December 27, 2022.
Sherri often spoke of her humble beginnings. She loved the small town life. Often she told stories of her many animals, open farm land, playing outside, or just doing stuff little girls do. Listening to her speak of the early days would make you think that she grew up in Mayberry. She was nothing but smiles when speaking of the good ole days.
It was in 1974, when her mom (Ruby) and her dad (Lester) decided to move to Cleveland, OH. Her dad wanted to be closer to his widowed sister. She attended and graduated from John Marshall High School. Sherri then made the decision to boldly go where no Jones had gone before. She left for Hiram College. It was there where she would make it if she focused on her goals. She did. She not only earned her bachelor’s degree, but had experiences that would last a lifetime. Hanging out with friends, going to England or just being a normal college student was a part of her life that brought her great pride and elation. Her calling was to help others. She did so everyday while working as a social worker for Cuyahoga County.
It was in 1964, that she was introduced to the Lord. Her mom and dad were faithful stewards for Christ. Of course, they passed their faith on to Sherri. As a kid, she attended McKissack Memorial COGIC. She later found a home at Second Calvary Baptist Church. Her faith was the most important thing in her life. She knew her Bible. Regardless of what was going on in her life, the world or a friend’s well being, she could quote a verse or passage that was sure to help. She consistently showed unflinching altruism by often praying for those in need. Her relationship with the Lord brought her a limitless amount of Happy Days.
You could often find her enjoying an old movie, an old tv show or old memories. She knew all the classics. Family and friends brought her great delight. She loved hearing great things about her loved ones over a nice meal. If you ever wanted to get on her good side all you had to do was start watching some tik tok videos of dogs. German Shepherds were her weak spot. It's a shame that Old Yeller, Lassie or Rex aren’t here to concur.
Preceding her in death are: Lester and Ruby Jones (parents), James WIlliams and Cliola Bush (parents), Barbara, Delores and George Bush (siblings). Sherri will be missed by her siblings: James, Sylvester, Suzanne, Ruth Ann, Minus Ruth Bush and Bobby Hopkins. Her aunts Jewell and Mildred. Last, her many cousins, nieces, nephews, friends and acquaintances will all miss Sherri.
Respect.
